Women's Tennis Set to Host Grand Canyon

ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (11-2, 3-0 WAC) look to remain undefeated in conference play as they face Grand Canyon at the UTA Tennis Center at 11 a.m. Sunday.
 
This will be the second WAC match at home, after the Mavericks defeated New Mexico State 6-1 on Friday.
 
WAC Double's Team of the Week Tara Gorinsek and Ana Paula Jimenez are coming off another win on Court 1. They defeated conference opponents New Mexico State, Abilene Christian and Tarleton State to move to undefeated in WAC doubles matches and 8-4 on the season.
 
Court 2 doubles team Liz Chileno and Sarina Reinertsen have also been successful in conference play, with two wins and one unfinished match. They defeated NMSU's Miranda Bishard and Bella Nguyen 6-2 and TSU's Elsa Boisson and Emma Persson 6-1 for an 8-3 season record.
 
Francisca Vergara moved to 9-2 after a strong straight-set victory on Friday. She earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over the Aggies and holds a 2-1 record in WAC play.
 
Jimenez has remained steady on Court 5, and she is looking to remain undefeated in conference matches. She has earned straight-set wins over TSU and NMSU, along with a strong third set win over ACU to move to 9-1 on the season.
 
Reinertsen has also been a weapon for the Mavs, allowing her opponents only five games total in WAC match ups. After a 6-0, 6-0 win over ACU, she defeated TSU 6-1, 6-1 and NMSU 6-2, 6-1 to continue her success. She holds an 8-2 record for the season.
 
SCOUTING GRAND CANYON
The Lopes are 8-7 on the season and 2-1 in WAC play. They have defeated conference opponents Seattle and Utah Tech, and fell to UT Rio Grande Valley. GCU holds a 1-0 record over UTA, after winning their last match in 1984.
