ARLINGTON, Texas– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (14-3, 6-1 WAC) is set to conclude their regular season with a series of matches against North Texas, Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin. They will face the Mean Green on Wednesday at the Waranch Tennis Complex (2 p.m.), the Bearkats on Friday (1 p.m.) and the Lumberjacks on Sunday (11 a.m.), both at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Mavericks are coming off a strong 4-3 win over UT Rio Grande Valley and are currently ranked first in the WAC standings.
Ana Paula Jimenez has been key to the Mavs' success with a 13-1 record and undefeated in conference play (7-0). She has won all but one WAC match in straight sets and is coming off a 6-3, 6-0 win over UTRGV's Stefanie Wilske.
Francisca Vergara also moved to 13 wins on the season after a 6-3, 6-4 win over UTRGV's Daniela Rosenberger. She holds a 13-2 overall record and a 6-1 record in WAC matches on Court 6.
On Court 2,
Tara Gorinsek earned her tenth win of the season over UTRGV's Isabelle Bahr in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. She holds a 10-5 record overall and a 5-2 WAC record.
Gorinsek also earned her tenth doubles win with partner Jimenez against UTRGV. The 6-4 win moved them to 10-6 on the season and 5-2 in WAC play on Court 1.
Liz Chileno and
Sarina Reinertsen have also been key in doubles success, with an 11-3 record on Court 2. They earned a close 7-5 win over UTRGV to complete the doubles sweep and to remain undefeated in WAC play (5-0).
SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS
The Mean Green are 10-9 on the season and 0-5 in Conference USA matches. The Mavericks hold a 13-11 record over the Mean Green after their last matchup in 2022. Jasmine Adams holds an 8-3 record as their primary No. 1 player, and Matilde Morais holds an 11-2 record at No. 2.
SCOUTING SAM HOUSTON STATE
The Bearkats hold a 5-10 overall record and are 2-4 in WAC play. The Mavericks hold a 18-5 record over the Bearkats after winning 5-2 in their last meeting in 2016. The Bearkats have defeated conference opponents Stephen F. Austin and Utah Tech.
SCOUTING STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
The Lumberjacks are 10-10 overall and hold a 2-4 conference record. The Mavericks hold a 20-2 record over the Lumberjacks after winning 5-2 in their last meeting in 2017. The Lumberjacks have defeated WAC opponents Abilene Christian and Utah Tech.
