ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's and women's track and field teams wrap up the outdoor regular season at the Oliver Jackson Twilight on Thursday, April 27, hosted by Abilene Christian at Elmer Gray Stadium.
The meet gets started with the field events, with the javelin throw kicking off the meet at 10:30 a.m. The field events wrap up at 5:30 p.m. with the men's triple jump. Track events are slated to begin at 3:20 p.m. with the 4x100 meter relay. The meet concludes with the 5000-meter run, starting at 7:25 p.m. The projected end of the meet is 8 p.m.
COMPETING TEAMS
Along with UTA and host Abilene Christian, the following teams are set to compete in the Oliver Jackson Twilight: TCU, Sam Houston, Tarleton, Hardin-Simmons, McMurry, Jacksonville, Angelo State, Southwestern, Western Texas College, Ranger College and Hill College as well as several unattached entries.
STORYLINES
- Tatyana Terrell is coming off a week in which she set several season's best as well as breaking two school records: breaking her own school record in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 53.34 as well as being apart of the women's 4x100 meter relay team, consisting of Terrell, Adeyemi Talabi, Madison Pippins and Mikeya Washington, that broke the school record with a time of 44.32. Terrell also holds the fastest time in the WAC in the women's 200-meters with a time of 23.12.
- The women's 4x100 meter relay team sits atop the current WAC standings as well as the 30th fastest time in the NCAA.
- Josh Hoekendorf sits in sixth in the WAC standings in the men's hammer throw heading into the meet. Earlier in the season, he broke the school record with a mark of 55.55-meters.
- Joel Bengtsson in the men's 110-meter hurdles is currently the 30th fastest time in the NCAA and tops in the WAC with a time of 13.54.
- Madison Pippins holds the second fastest time in the WAC for the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.51. Also has the fourth fastest time in the women's 200-meters with a time of 23.91.
- Khalid Mendez enters the meet holding the second fastest time in the WAC in the men's 200-meters with a time of 20.83.
- Simona Cabella sits in fifth of the WAC leaderboards in the women's pole vault with a mark of 3.85-meters.
- In the men's 800-meters, Jackson Cichon sits atop the WAC standings with a time of 1:50.00.
- In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Shelby West and Zaire Moore sit in the top five of the current WAC standings. West in third with a time of 59.99 while Moore comes in fifth with a time of 1:00.41.
- Freshman Calen Jones sits in fifth in the WAC standings in the men's high jump with a mark of 2.07-meters.
- In the women's triple jump, Malaiya Jedkins sits in third on the WAC leaderboards with a mark of 12.57-meters.
- Abigail Flores sits in fifth in the WAC standings in the women's discuss with a mark of 47.92-meters.
