ARLINGTON, Texas – Garrison Berkley represented the UT Arlington Mavericks on the 2023 WAC All-Tournament Team. Berkley was the only representative that was not from Sam Houston or Utah Valley to be named to the team.
Â
In five games, Berkely went 11-21 during the tournament for a .524 average with three RBIs and accounted for six runs scored. Out of his 11 hits, he smacked one home run, one triple and one double. He also was hit by a pitch and drew one walk.
Â
The Aledo, Texas native also accounted for some spectacular play in center field, covering a lot of ground to make some great catches and holding a perfect fielding percentage throughout the tournament.
Â
He started the tournament off hot with a home run and going 3-4 with an RBI and scoring twice in the Mavs opening game. Berkley's best game came in the Mavs third game, an elimination game, against the Seattle U RedHawks in an early morning contest on the third day of the tournament. He ended up going 4-6 with a triple, two RBIs and scored two runs.Â
Â
Berkley kept hot on the third day of the tournament, a day which saw the Mavs play in two games. In the second game of the day against top-seeded Grand Canyon, Berkley went 3-5 with a double and a run scored.
