ARLINGTON– The UT Arlington women's tennis team is looking to bounce back from their first two losses of the season in a Sunday doubleheader at the UTA Tennis Center, facing UT Dallas (10 a.m.) and Collin College (2 p.m.).
The Mavericks are coming off a 4-0 loss to Wichita State heading into Sunday's match. The Mavs fought hard in singles play before the Shockers clinched the match.
Bruna Casasampere and
Francisca Vergara have been a solid doubles pair as the primary Court 2 duo. The team recently defeated SMU's Maja Makoric and Millie Skelton 6-4 to move to 3-1 on the season. They had also gained a 5-4 lead on Wichita State before the doubles point was decided.
Ana Paula Jimenez remains the only Maverick without a loss so far at 2-0 on the season. Her last three matches have gone unfinished, with her leading in all three. Her most recent win was over UT El Paso, dropping only two games in the victory.
SCOUTING UTD
The Comets hold a 1-0 record in the spring season so far. Their sole win is over Texas Wesleyan in February. The Mavericks hold a 1-0 record over the Comets after their first meeting in 2023. The Mavs did not drop a point, sweeping the match 7-0 for their first dual match meeting.
SCOUTING COLLIN COLLEGE
The Cougars hold a 2-5 record in the spring season so far. In spring matches, they lost to Tarleton State and North Texas. Last season also marked the first meeting between the Mavericks and the Cougars, with the Mavericks earning the first win of the series. The Mavs earned a 7-0 victory in the 2023 matchup.
