Women's Tennis Set For Evening Match With Horned Frogs

FORT WORTH– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (6-2) looks to continue their spring season success in a Wednesday evening match against the TCU Horned Frogs at 5:30 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
 
The Mavericks are coming off a strong weekend, where they took down both UT Dallas and Collin College 7-0 at the UTA Tennis Center. They also remain undefeated in road matches after wins over UT El Paso and New Mexico State.
 
In singles play, Bruna Casasampere moved to 6-1 on the spring season, tallying the most dual match wins on the team. Francisca Vergara and Mariana-Manyoma Velasquez are not far behind after both players earned their fourth and fifth wins in the doubleheader.
 
Ana Paula Jimenez has also been solid for the Mavericks, posting a 4-0 record and remaining undefeated in singles play. Nika Novikova also remains undefeated with a 2-0 record after the weekend matches after she earned her first two wins of the spring season.
 
In doubles action, Casasampere and Vergara hold a 5-1 record as the primary No. 2 team for the Mavs. In their match against SMU, they earned a strong 6-4 win over Maja Makoric and Millie Skelton.
 
Sarina Reinertsen and Jimenez have also made an impact in doubles play on Court 3. They only dropped one game out of two matches in the weekend doubleheader and hold a 4-2 record while being undefeated on the road.
 
SCOUTING TCU
The Horned Frogs hold a 3-1 record in the spring season. They have defeated Northwestern State, Rice and Incarnate Word and lost to Texas A&M. The Mavericks have yet to defeat the Horned Frogs, as they hold a 0-18 record in dual match play. Their last meeting was in 2016, where the Mavs lost 6-1 in Fort Worth.
