Women's Tennis Ready For First Two Road Matches

LAS CRUCES, N.M.-- The UT Arlington women's tennis team (2-0) is set to travel west for their first two road matches of the season. They will take on UT El Paso in El Paso on Wednesday (1 p.m.) and New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M. on Thursday (12 p.m.).

The Mavericks have yet to drop a point so far this spring, sweeping both Prairie View 7-0 and Dallas Baptist 4-0. Their match against Cameron was canceled due to weather.

Each Maverick has won their singles matches in straight sets over the Panthers and the Patriots. They also have yet to lose a doubles point, earning the early lead in both matches so far.

Ana Paula Jimenez and Sarina Reinertsen both earned their 11th wins on the 2023-24 season as they moved to 11-4. Bruna Casasampere moved to 8-4 while Tara Gorinsek moved to 5-1. Francisca Vergara moved into the win column after her first two spring matches, now holding a 6-5 overall record on the season.

SCOUTING UTEP
UTEP also holds a 1-2 record in the spring, with losses to Tarleton State and Weber State. Their one win was over Western New Mexico University in their first match of the season. The Mavericks hold a 2-4 record against the Miners. After losing their first four meetings, the Mavs have defeated the Miners in 2018 and 2019, once in El Paso and once in Arlington.

SCOUTING NEW MEXICO STATE
The Aggies currently hold a 1-2 record in the spring season. They have defeated Weber State and lost to Tarleton State and North Texas so far. The Mavericks hold a 6-1 record over the former WAC opponent, with their last loss being in 2009. In their most recent meeting, the Mavs defeated the Aggies 6-1.
