ARLINGTON– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (4-0) has postponed their Saturday match against SMU due to rain. They will now play the Mustangs at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Mavericks are coming off a strong set of road matches, defeating both UT El Paso and New Mexico State 4-1.
Bruna Casasampere earned her tenth win of the season over New Mexico State, moving to 10-4 overall. She remains 4-0 in the spring season.
Mariana Manyoma-Velasquez went 2-0 in singles action this week with straight-set wins over NMSU and UTEP.
Francisca Vergara also remains undefeated in the spring, holding a 3-0 record.
In doubles action, Jimenez and
Sarina Reinertsen have been solid at the No. 3 position. They hold a 3-0 record, tallying wins in each of the matches they have played together so far.
SCOUTING SMU
The Mustangs hold a 1-4 record in dual matches so far. They have lost to two ranked teams, including No. 15 Duke and No. 9 North Carolina State, as well as Florida State and Baylor. In their solo win, they defeated No. 17 Vanderbilt 4-3 in Dallas. The Mavericks hold a 5-3 record against the Mustangs. In their last meeting in 2022, the Mavs lost 4-0 in Dallas. The last time UTA defeated SMU was in 2016, with a 6-1 win at the UTA Tennis Center.
