Women's Tennis Look To Face No. 70 UTSA At UTA Tennis Center Friday

ARLINGTON– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (9-4) is set to face No. 70 UT San Antonio in a 2 p.m. match on Friday at the UTA Tennis Center.

The Mavericks are coming off an impressive 4-1 over North Texas on Wednesday, where they won four singles matches in a row after dropping the doubles point. The Friday match will be their second of four home matches in a row as they look to take on Abilene Christian and Tarleton next to begin Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play.

New addition Mariana Manyoma-Velasquez has been a standout player for the Mavericks as she earned her tenth win of the season over UNT's Stadfany Nformi. She is currently on a six-match winning streak, which includes wins over TCU and Tulsa.

Bruna Casasampere holds the second-most wins in dual match play as she extended her record to 9-2 in the spring with her victory over the Mean Green. She is currently on a three-match winning streak, holding victories over Houston, Oral Roberts and UNT.

In doubles action, Manyoma-Velasquez and partner Tara Gorinsek pulled out an impressive win over North Texas in the tight battle for the doubles point. The 6-3 victory gave them their fourth win of the spring on Court 1.

Court 2's Casasampere and Francisca Vergara have also been strong as they hold the most wins with an 8-3 record. In the Mavs' recent road series in Oklahoma, the pair defeated both Oral Roberts and Tulsa.

SCOUTING UTSA
UTSA is currently ranked No. 70 as a team in the ITA National Rankings. The Roadrunners hold a 9-3 record in the spring after their most recent wins over Tyler JC and Cowley CC. They have beaten Houston 4-2 as well as fell 4-1 to North Texas. The Mavs hold a 25-7 record over the Roadrunners after their most recent meeting in 2023. They have a 14-match winning streak, with their last loss being in 2008 in San Antonio.
