ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The UT Arlington track and field teams competed in day one of Oklahoma's John Jacobs Invitational. As well as the John Jacobs Invitational, some Mavs, specifically some distance runners as well as a couple decathletes and heptathletes competed in day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California
JOHN JACOBS DAY ONE
In the women's long jump,
Thomasin Eboko leaped 5.26m for an outdoor PR. In the same event,
Princess Miller jumped 5.17m for an outdoor PR as well.
Sophia Allen vaulted 3.65m in the women's pole vault to secure and outdoor PR.
The John Jacobs Invitational will conclude tomorrow starting with the women's 4x100 relay race at 11 a.m.
BRYAN CLAY DAY TWO
Out west in California, some of the Mavs competed in day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational which was highlighted by
Lucas Van Klaveren claiming first place in the decathlon.
Van Klaveren scored 7785 points in the men's decathlon to take home first place in a loaded field. The native of Netherlands took home PR's in the 100m (10.93), long jump (7.25m) and the shot put (13.83m).
Matro Jepkemboi finished 14th in a crowded field in the women's 5000m. The freshman clocked in with a time of 16:24.13, marking a new outdoor PR as well as claiming the fastest time in school history.
In the women's 800m,
Winnie Kipsang ran a pace of 2:04.61 to set an outdoor PR, she also set the school record in the event.
