WACO, Texas – Day one of the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor started with four throwing events, four field events and eight track events that saw some Mavericks compete.
Day one was highlighted by
Zaire Moore who posted a top 10 finish as well as running an outdoor personal best in the women's 400m hurdles, clocking in with a time of 59.93. It's the first time in the sophomore's collegiate career that she broke under the minute mark in the event.
In the women's 200m dash the Mavs had two top 15 finishers in a crowded field of 75 runners.
Alexis Cain finished in the top 10, coming in 9th overall with a time of 23.78, just shy of breaking her personal best of 23.69.
Adeyemi Talabi placed 14th overall with a time of 24.10.
Andres Gurrola ran in the men's 5000m where he placed 13th overall with a time of 14:56.65, earning him a new outdoor personal best.
In the men's 200m dash,
Khalid Mendez came in 15th in a field of 55 runners, finishing with a time of 21.48.
The meet will conclude tomorrow, Apr. 20, beginning with the women's javelin throw at 11 a.m.
