ARLINGTON– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (12-6, 2-2 WAC) looks to improve their Western Athletic Conference (WAC) record against Utah Tech in their Wednesday match at the UTA Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
The Mavericks are coming off a series of road conference matches, where they evened their record with wins over Stephen F. Austin and UT Rio Grande Valley. They took down the Lumberjacks 7-0 and the Vaqueros 5-2.
In doubles play, the Mavs did not drop a set to either team as all three courts secured victories in both matches.
Bruna Casasampere and
Francisca Vergara still remain undefeated in WAC play as they hold a 3-0 record on Court 2, while
Tara Gorinsek and
Mariana Manyoma-Velasquez hold a 3-1 record on Court 1.
Casasampere earned her third WAC singles victory as she defeated both opponents on Court 5. She sits at 18-7 overall and 12-3 in dual match play, with wins on Courts 5 and 6.
Sarina Reinertsen has also been strong in singles play as she holds a 3-1 record in WAC matches on Court 2. After earning a strong three-set win over SFA, she continued her success and took down UTRGV's Lea Karren in straight sets. Both wins put her at 19-9 overall and 10-5 in dual match play.
SCOUTING UTAH TECH
The Trailblazers hold a 5-12 record in the spring season and are 0-4 in WAC play. In their most recent match, they fell 6-1 to Abilene Christian. Their closest loss was 4-3 against SFA. The Mavericks currently hold a 1-0 record over the Trailblazers after their first meeting. In 2023, the Mavs swept 7-0 in St. George, Utah, where each player won in straight sets.
