COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UT Arlington track and field teams closed out day two of the 44 Farms Team Invitational with a few top-three finishes and some season's best performances at EB Cushing Stadium.
The day started with the conclusion of the heptathlon and decathlon and
Levi Bontke continued the path to his best outdoor decathlon performance of his collegiate career. He placed 3rd overall with a personal best 6835 points while also setting personal marks in the javelin (44.73m), the discus (30.93m), the high jump (1.81m) and the 100m (11.00). His twin brother
Luke Bontke finished right behind him in 4th place with an outdoor personal best of 6803 points while posting personal marks in the discus (33.67m) and the 100m (11.10).
The finishes move the Bontke twins in to the top-three of the WAC standings (Levi at 2nd and Luke at 3rd) just behind teammate
Brady Shadrick who sits atop the leaderboard.
In the men's shot put,
Desmond Frazier had a career day finishing with an outdoor personal best throw of 17.41m for a 2nd place finish. That marks his highest finish of the outdoor season and moves him into the top spot of the WAC leaderboards.
Calen Jones finished 3rd overall in the men's high jump, coming in with a jump of 2.05m. It's his second-best performance of the outdoor season so far. Jones still sits atop the WAC standings.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Marvin Walford jumped a season-best 15.09m in the men's triple jump to finish in 4th while the mark puts him in 3rd of the WAC standings.
- Freshman Joey Haws finished with an outdoor personal best in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 42.89m.
- In the women's high jump, Kaliah Jones (1.70m) and Jade Bontke (1.65m) both matched their season's best jump of the outdoor season.
- Jeremy Taylor placed 5th in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.95m, his second-best mark of the outdoor season.
- Hayden Wilson finished 5th in the men's shot put with a throw of 16.56m.
- Rogelio Aguirre placed 5th in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:58.61.
- In the men's 110m hurdles, Lucas Van Klaveren (14.22) and Brady Shadrick (15.16) matched their outdoor season's best times.
- Adam Herrera finished with an outdoor personal best of 47.80 in the men's 400m.
- Jackson Cichon finished with a season's best 1:51.89 in the men's 800m, good for a 4th place finish.
- In the heptathlon, freshmen Carla Guerrero (4091 points) and Khya Walton-Ravenell (4085 points) which were both outdoor personal bests.

"We competed in loaded fields throughout the day with high quality teams and did well, which made me excited to see us shine at such a competitive meet," said head coach
John Sauerhage. "We are trending in the perfect direction for the conference championships."

The Mavs will be pulling double duty, with a portion of the team heading out west to California to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University while the other half of the team will travel to Oklahoma to compete in the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman. The Bryan Clay Invitational is from Thursday, Apr. 11 to Saturday, Apr. 13 while the John Jacobs Invitational will be from Friday, Apr. 12 to Saturday, Apr. 13.
