ARLINGTON– The UT Arlington women's tennis team (13-6, 3-2 WAC) looks to host Seattle University for a 10 a.m. Monday match in their final home match of the season. The Mavs will also honor their two seniors,
Bruna Casasampere and
Francisca Vergara, before the match at 9:30 a.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Mavericks are heading into Monday's match on a 3-0 winning streak as they bounced back from being down 0-2 in Western Athletic Conference (WAC) play. They took down Stephen F. Austin 7-0 and UT Rio Grande Valley 5-2 on the road, then most recently earned a 6-1 win over Utah Tech at home.
Ioana Dumitrescu made her WAC debut against the Lumberjacks and has earned three consecutive singles victories between Courts 5 and 6. She has won each of her matches in straight sets as she moves to 3-0 in conference play and 4-2 overall.
Senior Casasampere sits at 4-1 in WAC play as she looks to continue her four match winning streak. After taking an initial loss to Abilene Christian, she has bounced back to secure victories over Tarleton State, SFA, UTRGV and Utah Tech. She heads into Monday's match 19-7 overall with the second-most wins on the team.
Sarina Reinertsen has also been a force in singles action as the primary Court 2 player. She holds a 4-1 WAC record after defeating Abilene Christian, SFA, UTRGV and Utah Tech and sits at 20-9 overall, holding the most wins on the team for the season.
In doubles action, senior duo Casasampere and Vergara remain the only pair undefeated in WAC play so far as they hold a 4-0 conference record and a 13-3 overall record. The pair made their first Court 1 appearance against Utah Tech, where they defeated their opponents in a close tiebreaker to secure the doubles victory.
SCOUTING SEATTLE
The Redhawks hold a 8-7 overall record and the same WAC record as the Mavericks, 3-2. Their two losses have been to Grand Canyon and Tarleton State, and they have defeated SFA, UTRGV and Abilene Christian. The Mavs hold a 1-1 record against the Redhawks after falling 4-3 in their most recent meeting in 2023.
