ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington volleyball team returns to the College Park Center to host the UTA Classic this Thursday through Saturday.
The Mavs open the tournament on Thursday against Santa Clara at 6 p.m. CT. Following Thursday's game, the Mavs will face off against McNeese on Friday at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the Mavericks will conclude the tournament with a match versus UL-Monroe at 3 p.m.
STRONG START
The Mavs are off to hot start with three-straight sweeps to start the season, which hasn't been done since 1988.
Brianna Ford leads the team in kills with 38 in nine sets, which ranks second in the Western Athletic Conference in average kills per set with a 4.22 mark.
BRINGING THE HEAT
The Mavericks, in just nine sets, have scored 27 points off of a serving ace, averaging three per set. That mark not only leads the conference, but currently ranks tied for eighth in the nation in aces per set.
PROMOTIONAL SCHEDULE
For Thursday's match, the first 100 fans will receive the first set of UT Arlington volleyball player cards. Each set contains five players.
On Friday, for UTA volleyball's book drive, fans are encouraged to bring as many books to donate at Friday's match as every book donated earns a free ticket to a future volleyball game.
Kids Day is back on Saturdays at the College Park Center, where families are encouraged to join the fun with a bounce house and a balloon animal artist.
