Women’s Tennis Prepped To Host The No. 53 TCU Horned Frogs

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (4-3) return to action when they welcome the No. 53 TCU Horned Frogs (4-3) to Arlington this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the UTA Tennis Center.

This will be the first time in 11 days that the Mavericks return to the courts with their last two matches against Memphis and Wichita State being canceled due to the severe weather that struck Texas.

The Mavs are hot in the month of February, holding a 4-1 record in the month and are currently riding a two-match win streak while not surrendering a single point in that span heading into the battle with the Horned Frogs. UTA holds a 4-1 record at the UTA Tennis Center, surrendering only six points in those five matches.

Last time out against Oral Roberts, the Mavs secured the doubles point behind wins from the duo of Ioana Dumitrescu and Ana Paula Jimenez on Court 2 6-2 and the team of Maria Lucia Araoz-Gosn and Nika Novikova on Court 3 6-3. In singles action, Valeriia Ivanovskaia won 6-1, 6-1 on Court 3 while Dumitrescu won 6-1, 6-3 on Court 4 and Novikova won 6-2, 6-2 on Court 5 for the 4-0 sweep over ORU.

This will be the 20th overall meeting between the crosstown programs, with the Mavs trailing in the all-time series, 0-19. This is the Horned Frogs' first trip to Arlington since March 2013.

SCOUTING NO. 53 TCU
TCU carries a 4-3 record into the match and are coming off a 4-3 victory over the No. 45 Washington State Cougars. The Horned Frogs are 1-1 away from home, with their last road game coming back on February 9 at No. 24 UC Santa Barbara, an 0-4 loss for the Horned Frogs. Five of TCU's seven matches have come against ranked opposition, with two of them being top 10 teams in No. 2 Texas A&M and No. 8 Texas. TCU is 2-3 in those ranked matches, winning their most recent.
