Mavs Head South For Battle With UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (6-7) head south down I35 to San Antonio to take on the Roadrunners of UTSA (17-4) on Friday, April 4, with first serve scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
 
The Mavericks are coming off an impressive 4-2 victory over conference foe Tarleton State this past Sunday, March 30, when they defeated the Texans at the UTA Tennis Center. UTA is 2-3 in their last five matches and hold a 1-4 record away from home.
 
Ana Paula Jimenez leads the way for UTA, holding steady with a 6-0 dual match record, all coming on Court 1. Ioana Dumitrescu holds a 6-7 dual match record, all coming from Court 4. The tandem of Jimenez and Dumitrescu have been steady for the Mavs in doubles action, boasting a 5-5 overall record, all coming from Court 2. The duo of Mialy Ranaivo and Valeriia Ivanovskaia also carry a 5-5 doubles record, all coming from Court 1.
 
This will be the 34th meeting between the two programs in a series dating back to 1995. The Mavs hold a 26-7 advantage in the all-time series and are currently riding a 15-match win streak over the Roadrunners, dating back to the 2009 season. The Mavs last loss came all the way back during the 2008 season. Away from Arlington, the Mavs boast an 11-4 record in San Antonio.
 
SCOUTING UTSA
The Roadrunners enter the match with a 17-4 overall record with a 9-1 record at home with the lone loss coming to then No. 48 Rice back on March 8. As a squad, the Roadrunners are 68-29 in singles play with all eight student-athletes holding a winning percentage above .500. In doubles, UTSA is 34-20 on the year with a team of Valeria Sanchez and Ekua Youri recording the most wins with eight.
