STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team (7-8) close out the 2024-25 regular season schedule when they travel to Stephenville to battle Tarleton State (12-6) on Thursday, April 10, at 1 p.m. CT from the Tarleton Tennis Facility.
The Mavericks hold a 1-5 record away from the UTA Tennis Center with their lone win coming back in early March when they defeated Central Arkansas 4-1 at the Conway Tennis Center.
Last time out against the Texans, the Mavs claimed a 4-2 victory to wrap up the month of March. In UTA's previous five matches, the Mavs are 2-3 while holding a 1-1 record in the month of April. The Mavs are looking for a two-match win streak this Thursday before heading into the conference tournament.
Ana Paula Jimenez leads the way for UTA, holding steady with a 6-1 dual match record, all coming on Court 1.
Ioana Dumitrescu holds a 6-7 dual match record, all coming from Court 4. The tandem of Jimenez and Dumitrescu have been steady for the Mavs in doubles action, boasting a 6-5 overall record, all coming from Court 2. The duo of
Mialy Ranaivo and
Valeriia Ivanovskaia also carry a 6-5 doubles record, all coming from Court 1.
This will be the eighth overall meeting between the two programs with UTA holding the edge with a 5-2 record in the all-time series. The first matchup came back in 1997 and the two didn't meet again until 2015. This will be the sixth time they've met in the 2020s. This marks the second trip the Mavs have made to Stephenville where they are 1-0.
SCOUTING TARLETON STATE
The Texans carry a 12-6 record into Thursday's match and hold a perfect 6-0 record in Stephenville. Tarleton dropped their last match this past Sunday against No. 63 SMU, 4-0 and are 2-3 in their last five matches. Maria Castano leads the charge for the Texans with a 13-3 singles record followed by Adeliya Mukhutdinova who holds a 12-4 singles record while Ximena Morales holds steady with a 10-5 singles record. The duo of Emma Persson and Maretha Burger lead the way in doubles action with a 9-3 record.
