HOUSTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's golf team opened up play at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic from the Westwood Golf Club down in Houston. A trio of Mavericks sit in the top 30 individually which has led to UTA being tied for fifth overall in the team standings.
 
UTA finishes day one tied with fellow Western Athletic Conference foe, Abilene Christian. Both the Mavs and Wildcats hold scores of 580, with UTA turning in rounds of 290 and 290 while ACU clocked in rounds of 296 and 284.
 
Freshman Ajay Morris lead the charge for the Mavs after finishing day one two under par, turning in rounds of 71 and 71 for a total score of 142. He currently sits tied for tenth overall, and marks the second tournament in a row that the freshman has paced UTA.
 
Morris is joined by fellow freshman Arth Sinha, whom is tied for 21st overall after clocking in rounds of 74 and 71 for a total score of 145 through two rounds. 
 
In his first appearance on the five man lineup, transfer Liam Hartling is tied for 28th overall. He currently sits two over par after shooting 72 in round one and 74 in round two to finish day one with a score of 146.
 
Both Michael Chevalier and Nicholas Lyman sit tied for 38th overall, sitting at four over par. Chevalier turned in rounds of 74 and 74 while Lyman clocked in rounds of 73 and 75, both finishing with a total score of 148.
