STEPHENVILLE, Texas — UT Arlington women's basketball (8–10, 2–4 WAC) hits the road for a Western Athletic Conference matchup at Tarleton State (9-8, 3-3 WAC) as the Lady Mavs travel to Wisdom Gym on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
UTA enters the midweek contest looking to build momentum after a 59–47 victory over Utah Valley, as the Lady Mavs leaned on their defensive pressure to secure the win. Arlington will aim to carry that energy on the road while continuing to push up the WAC standings.
UT Arlington enters the matchup with a balanced lineup on both ends of the floor, featuring five players averaging at least 7.0 points per game and one of the conference's strongest perimeter defenses. Kira Reynolds leads the Lady Mavs at 12.4 points per game, with Nya Threatt (9.1 ppg) and Mila Reynolds (8.1 ppg) providing steady backcourt production. UTA shoots 40.5% from the field and 32.9% from three, while defensively limiting opponents to just 23.5% from beyond the arc, a mark that ranks among the best in the WAC and sixth in the nation. The Lady Mavs also protect the rim effectively, averaging 5.1 blocks per game, using activity and depth to disrupt opposing offenses.
Tarleton State brings a balanced and physical approach into the matchup, averaging 67.2 points per game and shooting 41.2% from the field. The Texans rely on efficient interior play and active defense, outrebounding opponents by nearly four boards per game. The teams have split their recent meetings, with Tarleton State claiming the most recent contest 66-57 on Dec. 29, 2025, in Stephenville. UTA's longest win streak in the series was six straight victories from 1991 to 2025. Arlington has been particularly strong at home (5-1) and also competitive on the road (6-4).
