ST. GEORGE, Utah – UT Arlington men's basketball (14-7, 6-3 WAC) takes to the road to face Utah Tech (13-11, 6-4 WAC) on Thursday at 8 p.m. CT at Burns Arena in a clash among teams fighting for the WAC regular-season title. The game will be broadcast live on
ESPN+ and can be heard live on the Varsity Network App with Josh Sours on the call.
The Mavericks suffered an overtime loss Saturday to league co-leader California Baptist (87-77) after winning six of their previous seven. The Trailblazers have won three straight WAC games for just the second time in the school's six years in the conference. UTA finds itself in a three-way tie for first with nine games remaining, while Utah Tech is just 1/2 game back.
This is the seventh all-time meeting between the two schools in a series that began in 2023. UT Arlington leads the head-to-head matchups, 5-1, following a 56-52 victory on Jan. 15 in St. George.
UT Arlington has six road victories this season, already doubling the squad's away win total from a year ago. Getting out to a fast start has been key to the Mavs' success, as UTA is 10-1 when leading at halftime.
For the Mavs, forward
Raysean Seamster scored a team-high 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the earlier meeting with Utah Tech. He is averaging 13.6 points and a team-high 6.6 rebounds per game. Fellow senior
Marcell McCreary is coming off a 19-point outing on Saturday and has a team-best 13.9 ppg average to go along with 5.1 rebounds per game this season.
