EUGENE, Ore.– UT Arlington Men's Track and Field freshman
Abisayo Gbakinro took his turn at the USATF U20 Championships on Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, competing in the men's triple jump. Gbakinro's UTA teammate —
Jayden Haynes — ran in the men's 400-meter preliminary on Thursday.
Gbakinro placed 13th in the triple jump, topping out with a 14.54-meter leap in his first attempt.
The Mansfield native had a 14.36-meter jump in his third and final leap after a foul in his second attempt.
Both Gbakinro and Haynes competed in the event on the heels of strong freshman seasons with the Mavericks. The duo previously earned spots in the NCAA West Regional First Round held in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the end of May.
