ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington Mavericks built an early lead but could not hold off St. John's on Saturday afternoon, falling 11–7 at Clay Gould Ballpark.

UTA came out swinging with five runs across the first two innings, getting on the board in the first on a St. John's throwing error before erupting for four runs in the second. St. John's answered back with three runs in the third and kept chipping away from there. UT Arlington trimmed the margin to two in the seventh on a pair of sacrifice flies, but St. John's answered again with a run in the eighth and another in the ninth.
