ABILENE, Texas – Abilene Christian defeated UT Arlington 14-4 in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark, taking the series 2-1.
The Wildcats built a 7-0 lead through three innings before UTA responded with three runs in the fourth.
Caylon Dygert drove in two with a single, and
Austin Phillips added an RBI to make it 7-3.
Abilene Christian put the game away in the bottom of the fourth with six runs, highlighted by Nick Arias's four-run home run to left center. The Wildcats added another run in the fifth and closed out the game in seven innings.
Xander McAfee and
Xavier Melendez each collected two hits for the Mavericks.
Danny Valadez took the loss, allowing five runs in 1.2 innings.
