Box Score ARLINGTON, Texas – Caylon Dygert delivered a dominant performance on the mound and
Zach Mazoch provided the power as UT Arlington shut out Utah Tech 2-0 on Friday night at Clay Gould Ballpark.
The Mavericks broke through in the fifth inning when Mazoch led off with an inside-the-park home run to give UTA a 1-0 lead.
Clark Springs followed with a bunt single and advanced to second on an error before moving to third on
Preston Knott's sacrifice bunt.
Austin Phillips added a sacrifice fly to right center, plating Springs to extend the advantage to 2-0.
Dygert earned the win, working 7.0 innings and allowing just three hits with four strikeouts.
Merek Sears pitched 0.2 scoreless innings before
Hayes Melville closed out the final 1.1 innings to record his fifth save of the season.
UTA finished with five hits and turned in a strong defensive performance with no errors.
PITCHING PROFILE
Caylon Dygert improved to 5-4 with the victory, scattering three hits over 7.0 innings with four strikeouts.
Merek Sears worked a clean 0.2 innings with one strikeout.
Hayes Melville earned his fifth save, retiring the final four outs with one strikeout.
