UT Arlington Names Alex Cosse Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Athletics has announced the addition of Alex Cosse as Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the 2026-27 academic year. He will primarily support the men's basketball team.

Cosse joins the Mavericks after serving as Director of Sport Performance for the University of the Incarnate Word men's basketball program since December 2024. In his role at UIW, he oversaw all aspects of strength and conditioning, recovery protocols, and athlete performance monitoring.

At UT Arlington, Cosse will work directly with the men's basketball program, assisting with strength and conditioning initiatives designed to enhance athletic performance, support injury prevention, and maximize student-athlete development.

Prior to his time at Incarnate Word, Cosse spent the fall of 2024 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at James Madison University. While at JMU, he assisted with the men's basketball program, worked with rehabilitation and modified athletes, and served as the lead strength coach for the men's and women's golf teams. His responsibilities included designing and implementing training programs tailored to the needs of both programs.

Cosse also gained valuable experience at the University of North Carolina, where he served as a basketball intern from November 2023 through July 2024 after previously working as an Olympic sports intern. During his time in Chapel Hill, he assisted with training sessions and programming for multiple Tar Heel programs, including women's volleyball, fencing, track and field, men's lacrosse, wrestling, and rowing.

Before joining North Carolina, Cosse worked as a football strength and conditioning intern at Tulane University, where he assisted with training sessions and gained experience with sports performance technologies, including GPS tracking systems, timing gates, and force plates.

A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Cosse earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in fitness and health performance from Southeastern Louisiana University in December 2022. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds ELDOA Level 1 and CPR/AED certifications.
