JD Brooks enters his second season as the UT Arlington women's basketball director of operations, a role he’s served in since April 2023.
Brooks spent the previous eight years in the same role at the University of South Alabama, where he was part of a staff that guided the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in a decade as well as consecutive national postseason tournament berths for the first time since 2004.
Prior to his tenure at South Alabama, Brooks spent five years as a student assistant with the University of North Alabama men's basketball program. While there, he assisted with the daily operations of the program, including game film exchange and breakdown, managing team travel, coordinating events for the coaching staff, creating community outreach opportunities for the players and staff and supervising locker room care and setup, as well as practice set up and take down, game day operations, organization and upkeep of equipment.
Away from the court, Brooks has helped served as a volunteer with Special Olympics at both the state and local levels. As a student, he was named to UNA's Dean's List on four occasions and was also a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society.
Brooks earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education from North Alabama in December 2014 and his master's degree in sport management from South Alabama in 2018.
Brooks currently resides in Mansfield with his wife Katie and their son, Jaxon, as well as their two dogs, Nola Belle and Millie.
