Shane Laflin begins his fourth year as an assistant coach for the women[apos]s basketball program.
Laflin serves as the Mavericks recruiting coordinator as well as working with the team[apos]s guards and forwards. Laflin is also responsible for the team[apos]s transition game and offensive schemes.
In his two seasons with the Mavericks, Laflin has helped lead the squad to a 56-37 overall record, three Southland Conference Tournament appearances and the program[apos]s second trip to the postseason[apos]s WNIT.
Laflin comes to UTA from the University of Texas where he served as a graduate assistant coach for legendary coach Jody Conradt. While at Texas, Laflin assisted in scheduling, scouting, on-campus recruiting and was the supervisor of team managers.
A native of Tempe, Arizona, Laflin graduated cum laude from UT Arlington in December of 2004 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in history. He has been heavily involved in coaching youth basketball and has served as a camp counselor at numerous college basketball camps, including a four-year stint at Jody Conradt[apos]s UT basketball camp.
Among his coaching experience, Laflin was boys basketball eighth-grade coach at Arlington Grace Prep Academy from 2002-05 and was an assistant coach of the Girls[apos] AAU Team Texas 17-Under, based out of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
