SAN ANTONIO, Texas...Two runs in the top of the seventh inning lifted the Lady Mavericks of Texas-Arlington past Bethune-Cookman College Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Fastpitch Express College Classic. The win improved UTA's season record to 2-4.
Back-to-back doubles from freshman Amanda Haney and Dee Jay Nelson plated two runs in the top of the seventh frame to give UTA a 2-0 advantage.
Sophomore Jill Garro (2-2) picked up the win for UTA scattering only two hits in the contest and striking out seven in a complete game effort.
UTA will return to action this afternoon for a 4 p.m. match-up against Colorado State.
