NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington's women's tennis squad imporved to 8-0 in Southland Conference action with Tuesday's 7-0 win at Stephen F. Austin. The Lady Mavericks are 13-4 overall.
UTA jumped in front early, claiming the doubles point after winning at all three flights. Marketa Cizova and Daniela Novakova paired up for an 8-2 victory over R. Houston and L. Harrison at the top position. Monika Peciulionyte and Simri van Rooyen defeated L. Nowiski and Melissa Bass 8-4 at No. 2 doubles while Jitka Vetrovcova and Anete Rozkalne extended their winning streak to six with an 8-3 decision over M. Langston and K. Scott.
The Lady Mavericks dominance continued as they swept singles action. Peciulionyte earned a 6-2, 7-5 win over Houston at the top singles position. Cizova defeated Harrison 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Novakova dropped Nowiski 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 3 position. Van Rooyen remained undefeated in SLC action with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Vess at No. 4. Rozkalne dropped Langston 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Vetrovcova closed out singles action with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Scott in the sixth flight.
Texas-Arlington will return to action Saturday, April 3 at Southeastern Louisiana. First serve is set for 10 a.m. in Hammond.
