ARLINGTON ,Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington's women's tennis squad won its fifth consecutive match Sunday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over Southland Conference opponent Louisiana-Monroe.
UTA claimed the doubles point with victories in all three spots. Marketa Cizova and Daniela Novakova teamed up to defeat Diana Espinal and Stacey Gayne, 8-4 at the top doubles position. Gretel Hach and Simri van Rooyen breezed past Nataly Ostovska and C. Shaw 8-0 while Jitka Vetrovcova and Anete Rozkalne dropped K. Dauzat and Mary Kay Fontenot 8-1 at the No. 3 doubles position.
ULM's Espinal was the lone Lady Indian to record victory as she upset No. 53 Monika Peciulionyte 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles. At the No. 2 position, Cizova dropped Ostovska, 6-4, -1 while Novakova won her ninth straight as she defeated Gayne, 6-1, 6-4. Rozkalne took care of business at the No. 4 postion, dropping Dauzat, 6-1, 6-0. Vetrovcova breezed past Shaw in the five hole, 6-0, 6-0 while Hach picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win in the sixth spot.
The Lady Mavericks return to action Saturday, March 13 at Texas State. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
