THIBODAUX, La. - Nicholls State's Dione Meier tossed a one-hitter as the Colonels dropped Texas-Arlington 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Southland Conference softball action. The squads split Friday's doubleheader. With the loss, UTA falls to 19-21-1 overall and 11-9 in the league.

The Colonels plated one run in the first inning after a Lin Coleman RBI double and added a run in each of the next two innings to down the Lady Mavs 3-0.

Beverly Rowan was the only Lady Mav to manage a hit off Meier, coming as a single in the first inning. Meier (14-11) went on to strike out 10 UTA batters in her seventh complete game shutout of the year.

Freshman Lauren Hebert (7-7) was tagged with the loss after giving up three earned runs on six hits in 4.2 innings of work.

The Lady Mavericks will return to action Saturday, April 17 when they travel to Stephen F. Austin for a three-game Southland Conference series. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
