ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington's women's tennis squad earned its 16th victory of the season with a 6-1 win over North Texas Tuesday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center.
The Lady Mavericks started out strong, claiming the first team point after sweeping doubles action. Marketa Cizova and Daniela Novakova paired up to defeat Katherine Harris and Krysta Lee 8-5 at the top doubles flight. Monika Peciulionyte and Simri van Rooyen followed with an 8-6 win over Ashley Sammis and Kellie Roger at the No. 2 position while Anete Rozkalne and Jitka Vetrovcova cruised to an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Cizova put the Lady Mavs in front 2-0 after earning a straight set victory over Roger at No. 2 singles. Novakova followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Sammis at No. 3 and Rozkalne clinced the victory for UTA with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Harris at the No. 5 position.
Texas-Arlington improved to 16-6 on the season with the win.
