LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Texas-Arlington (2-4) rallied from an early two-run deficit to regain the lead over Arkansas but the Razorbacks capitalized on a late Mavericks error to recapture the lead and eventually win the game, 5-4, Friday afternoon at the New Mexico State Tournament in Las Cruces.
Arkansas took a two-run lead in the second frame after a two-out two RBI single up the middle by Easley.
UTA capitalized on two Razorback errors and used a Katie Singleton RBI single through the gap to jump in front of UA, 3-2.
Arkansas came right back with two runs in the sixth, pushing the eventual game-winning run across on a Jenna Fortune miscue.
The Lady Mavs fought back in the seventh after Amanda Swofford singled and was sacrificed to second to lead off the frame. Singleton doubled off the wall in right center to plate the run, but Dee Jay Nelson and Courtni Anderson popped out to end the inning and the threat.
Swofford led the Mavs offense with a 3-for-3 plate appearance while Lauren Hebert (1-1) was tagged with the loss after tossing r3.0 innings and allowing two runs on three Razorback hits. UTA continues tournament action tomorrow with a 1 p.m. contest with Purdue.
