HAMMOND, La. - Southeastern Louisiana used two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge past Texas-Arlington 2-1 and complete the three-game sweep of the Southland Conference series at North Oak Park in Hammond, La.

UTA broke open a scoreless game in the sixth as Amanda Swofford beat out an infield single to plate Katie Jones who reached on a fielder's choice.

K. Smith led off the SLU seventh with her third home run of the series, a solo shot over the wall in right field. Kirkland, pinch running for Ford who singled earlier, scored the game-winner on a Jill Garro throwing error.

Garro worked 6.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits as she fell to 3-10 on the season.

Swofford led the Lady Mavs offense with two hits and one RBI.

UTA (8-18, 4-8) will return to action Friday when it plays host to Sam Houston State for a Southland Conference doubleheader. FIrst pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
