Junior Courtni Anderson belted a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the UT-Arlington softball team to a 7-6 victory and complete a doubleheader sweep of McNeese State Saturday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.
UTA ( 8-6, 2-0) led 4-0 early before McNeese State rallied with five runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-4 lead on a Jenny Clay double to right field with two outs.
The lead held up until the seventh when Dee Jay Nelson singled with one out, Jenna Fortune reached base on an error by pitcher Jessica Denham (2-5) and Anderson's dramatic shot to right.
Senior Jill Garro (5 -3) came out of the bullpen to throw two scoreless innings and pick up her second win of the day. She threw an 11-inning, complete-game win in the Mavs' 5-4 11-inning win in game one. . Both teams complete the three-game series tomorrow at noon.
