Texas State senior pitcher Katie Ann Trahan tossed her second straight one-hitter to lead the Bobcats past UT Arlington 2-0 in Southland Conference softball action here Saturday afternoon.
In game one, UTA scored twice in the bottom of the tenth inning to win 2-1.
The win improves Texas State to 30-15 overall and 16-2 in the conference. UT Arlington (26-17, 14-5) falls to third place in the league after Texas-San Antonio (24-11, 16-5) swept three games from Nicholls State over the weekend. With a win ove Texas State, UTA assures themselves of a top three seed in the upcoming Southland Conference Postseason Tournament, May 5-7, in Natchitoches, La.
Trahan (18-7) only hit allowed was a single to Jenna Fortune in the third inning.
UTA missed an opportunity to jump on Trahan early when they failed to score with runners and second and third base and one out.
Texas State's only run of the game came in the first inning courtesy of two UTA errors. Amy Hromadka scored from second base after an error by Fortune.
Jill Garro (15-9) took the loss for UTA, allowing six hits and striking out three.
UT Arlington returns to conference play Saturday when they travel to Stephen F. Austin for a three-game series.
