NATCHITOCHES, La. - Senior second baseman Jenna Fortune stroked a two-run double to right-center field to break a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning as UT Arlington defeated Texas State 3-1 to advance to the 2006 BellSouth Softball Tournament Championship Sunday afternoon.

UTA (32-21) will face regular-season champion Texas-San Antonio with the winner advancing to the NCAA regionals.

Senior pitcher Jill Garro (19-12) collected her third tournament win with an eight-inning gem. She allowed five hits and struck out 11 for the win.

Junior first baseman Dee Jay Nelson hit a home run in the first inning.
