NACOGDOCEHES, Texas - UT Arlington women's tennis recovered from its loss at Sam Houston State to beat Stephen F. Austin, 6-1, on Sunday. The Mavs improve their overall record to 5-2 and 3-1 in conference action.
UTA opened up the match by sweeping the double point. Daniela Novakova and partner Sara Pesic won as the No. 2 doubles 8-0 over Gabriela Gadeva and Rijalda Zejnic.
Novakova kept her singles winning streak alive winning in the No. 2 singles slot 6-3 6-2 over SFA's Laura Harrison. Novakova has won all seven of her singles matches this season.
Senior Monika Peciulionyte battled back from dropping the first set 5-7 to win the second 7-6, but eventually fell 10-6 to Roxana Enica for SFA's only point of the match.
Sofya Lifanova defeated Lauren Nowicki 6-2 6-0 in the No. 4 singles position to seal the win for UTA with the fourth point of the match. Marissa Brown and Pesic added points five and six defeating their opponents 6-0 6-1 and 6-4 6-3, respectively.
The Mavs next match is with Drury on March 20 at 2 p.m. at the UTA Tennis Center.
