HAMMOND, La. - UT Arlington women's tennis dropped its second conference match of the season, 6-1, to No. 66 Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday. With the win, the Lady Lions clenched their second straight regular season SLC championship.

For the second straight season, the Lady Lions (19-2, 10-0 SLC) moved through regular season league play without a loss. The win was Southeastern's 15th straight and the team's 33rd straight win over a league opponent. UTA fell to 13-3 overall and 8-2 in league play.

The Mavs started out the match strong winning two of three doubles matches for the 1-0 lead. However, UTA fell in all six singles matches to drop only its second conference match of the season.

Senior Simri van Rooyen had the opportunity to win in the No. 3 slot, but lost in the tiebreaker 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

In the No. 4 spot, freshman Sofya Lifanova won the second set to force a third but ended up losing 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 to Jana Simurkova.

The Mavs next match will be at the Southland Conference Championships in San Antonio, which begin on Friday. Pairings and times will be set by the conference office later this week.
