The UT Arlington men's tennis team came up with a 5-2 win at the UTA Tennis Center against Utah State Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks recorded wins in all three of the doubles flights and won four of the six singles matches.
UTA started the day with doubles action with Mindaugas Celedinas and Yauheni Yakauleu taking an 8-6 win over Sven Poslusny and Bryan Marchant in the No. 1 flight. David Subirats and freshman Nicolas Moreno took care of business in the No. 2 doubles flight easily earning a 9-2 win against Fredrik Peterson and Alex Thatcher.
Brieuc Hamon and Lucas Leppin won an 8-6 decision in the No. 3 position over Jakob Asplund and Nikita Ryashchenko.
Already with a 1-0 advantage against the Aggies, UT Arlington finished off Utah State winning four of the six singles matches. UTA won the No. 1, 3, 5 and 6 singles flights.
In the top flight, Celedinas recorded a 6-4, 6-0 win against Poslusny while freshman Erik Hjertonsson picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win against Peterson in the No. 3 flight.
Hamon recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 5 flight over Thatcher while Subirats won the No. 6 singles match over Ryashchenko, 6-3, 6-2.
Yakauleu dropped the No. 2 flight against Asplund with scores of 1-6 and 3-6. Leppin also suffered a loss in the No. 4 singles flight against Marchant, 6-3, 4-6 and 4-6.
The Mavericks are back in action today when they travel to College Station, Texas for a match up against Texas A&M at 6 p.m.
