Final Stats
Hammond, LA - The UT Arlington softball team went 1-1 in day one of their three game series against SE Louisiana Saturday in Hammond, LA. The Mavericks game two win improved their overall record to 15-10.
UT Arlington 1, SE Louisiana 5
The Mavericks opened their three game series against SE Louisiana with a 5-1 loss at the North Oak Park.
Freshman Callie Collins took the loss, falling to 8-3 on the season. Collins pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out five.
Freshman Alexis Cantu came in relief to pitch the final 1.2 innings and allowed one run on one hit.
UTA scattered four hits to the Lady Lions five. Courtney Enocksen led the Mavericks offensively going 1-for-2 with an RBI.
The Mavs lone run came in the second when Enocksen singled up the middle, scoring Kersti Rowan.
SELU recorded a solo runs in the second and fourth and exploded for three runs in the fifth.
UT Arlington 8, SE Louisiana 0
UTA got back on track in game two of its three game series against SELU with an 8-0 five inning win.
Sophomore Teri Lyles (6-6) led the Mavs on the mound, pitching a strong 5.0 innings, allowing zero runs on two hits while striking out five. The shutout win was Lyles second of the season and 10th of her career.
Junior Erica LeFlore led the Mavericks offensively, going 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI. LeFlore connected on a two-run double in the first inning and later helped the Mavs to a huge five-run fifth inning after connecting on a three-run homer to center field.
Charne Office and Enocksen also recorded multi-hit performances in the win. The teammates both went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.
The Lady Lions used four pitchers in the setback with Vicki Honeycutt (0-2) recording the loss.
UT Arlington wraps up the three game series with game three tomorrow at 12 p.m.
