Wichita State 3, UT Arlington 4
It took UT Arlington nine innings of softball but the Mavericks were able to pull out a 4-3 win against Wichita State Saturday. UTA is now 3-0 against the Shockers this season.

Senior Rebecca Collom helped the Mavericks to the 4-3 win after she blasted a two-run homer in the ninth inning. Collom finished the game going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two walks. It was the seniors fifth homer of the season and 29th of her career.

Sophomore hurler Teri Lyles (5-6) picked up the win and pitched her seventh complete game of the season. Lyles allowed three runs on eight hits while recording a season-high and career-high 12 strikeouts.

The Shockers got on board first in the top of the fourth with a home run but UT Arlington tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth following a solo home run by Erica LeFlore.

Wichita State drove in a run in the seventh to lead 2-1 but again the Mavericks weren't going out without a fight as they plated a solo run in the bottom half of the inning, sending the game into extra innings.

After a scoreless eighth and the international rule in effect, the Shockers connected on a hit and scored a run, to lead 3-2. Collom took care of the rest in the bottom half of the inning with her offensive power.

LeFlore went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a home run while Taylor Zink also recorded a multi-hit game, going 3-for-4.
