San Antonio, Texas - The UT Arlington softball team wrapped up their series against UTSA with a 4-1 victory at the Roadrunner Field. The weekend's wins improved the Mavericks to 26-12 overall and 13-2 in Southland play.
The Mavericks recorded their seventh straight win and third sweep against a conference opponent this season.
Just like in game one and two, UTA's bats and pitching continued to dominate the Roadrunners in game three.
Senior Rebecca Collom connected on her second home run of the series and ninth of the season in the third inning, giving the Mavericks a 1-0 advantage. Collom was one of three Mavs to record a pair of hits and finished the game 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored.
UTSA tied the game in fourth when Emily Humpal singled to third base scoring the only run for the Roadrunners.
The Mavericks were clutch in their final at bat scoring three runs on five hits to put the game well out of reach for UTSA. Courtney Zink drove in UTA's second run of the game when she singled to right field scoring Kersti Rowan. Charne Office plated two more runs when she singled to the left side.
Office finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI and connected on five hits and five RBI for the series.
True freshman Callie Collins guided the Mavericks in the circle, pitching a complete game. Collins improved her record to 15-3, allowing only one run on hits while striking out five.
The Roadrunners used two pitchers with Humpal taking the loss and falling to 5-3 on the season. Humpal pitched two innings where she gave up three runs on five hits.
UTA will take a break from conference action for a mid-week non-conference game against North Texas on Wednesday, April 6. Game time is set for 6 p.m. at Allan Saxe Field.
