Final Stats
Denton, Texas - The UT Arlington softball team dropped a 3-2 decision to North Texas Wednesday night at Lovelace Stadium in Denton, Texas. With the setback, the Mavericks fell to 31-22 overall.
The loss to the Mean Green marked the second time this season.
After two scoreless innings, North Texas got on the board in the third when they plated three runs on two hits.
Senior Rebecca Collom put the Mavericks within one at 3-2 after she connected on a two-run home run to center field in the sixth. The homer gave the senior her 12th home run of the season and 36th of her career.
As a team, the Mavericks scattered four hits with junior Courtney Enocksen accounting for two of them. Enocksen finished the game going 2-for-3 while Collom went 1-for-3 with a homer and two RBI.
Sophomore Teri Lyles took the loss in the circle falling to 13-12 overall. Lyles surrendered three runs on two hits while striking out eight and walking one in six innings of work.
Ashley Kirk recorded the win for the Mean Green, improving her record to 11-14. Kirk pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits and struck out 11.
The Mavericks return to Allan Saxe Field when they host their final series of the regular-season against Southland Conference leader Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on May 7-8. UTA will play a doubleheader on Saturday and ends the series with a solo game Sunday. Game times are set for 1, 3 and noon.
