SB: Mavs fall 2-0 to Northwestern State

April 14, 2012

Final Stats

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Mavericks fell 2-0 to the Northwestern State Lady Demons Saturday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.

In the top half of the second inning Briana Rodriguez knocked out a two-run home run, which scored the only two runs of the game.

Callie Collins started the game for the Mavericks giving up just two hits and two walks while also throwing five strikeouts. Teri Lyles came in to relieve Collins, pitching 2.1 innings allowing just one hit and one walk.

"Overall we pitched well," UT Arlington assistant coach Angela Perry said. " We out hit Northwestern, but we didn't put our hits together and unfortunatley it came down to one missed pitch."

Collins drops to 6-10, while Lyles stays at 7-9 through 32 games for the Mavericks.

UT Arlington (13-19, 3-7 SLC) completed the game with five hits and the Mavericks struck out only three times against the Lady Demons.

The women will head to San Antonio next weekend to take on the UTSA Roadrunners Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
