ARLINGTON, Texas - The softball team fell 6-1 to the Sam Houston State Bearkats Friday at Allan Saxe Field in Arlington.
UTA got things started when senior Courtney Enocksen singled to center field and Rachel Forshaw scored in the bottom of the second inning.
Sam Houston State made a comeback in the top of the third, picking up four runs and the lead for the Bearkats.
Sam Houston State picked up two more runs in the top of the seventh when Alyssa Coggins hit a triple to deep left field.
Teri Lyles dropped to 6-12 on the season after giving up four hits, two walks and six runs to the Bearkats. UT Arlington was able to rack up six hits in Friday's game, but was unable to move the runners.
The Mavericks are back on the diamond Saturday at 1 p.m. to take on the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
