ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington started Saturday's game strong after two wins the previous day against Seattle U, but the Redhawks bounced back to win the series finale 13-4 in five innings.
The Mavericks started fast, with runs from Taylor Zink, Britnea Barilli and Rachel Forshaw for a 3-0 head start going into the third inning.
SU forged ahead with an eight-run third, which included a grand slam. SU hit another home run in the top of the fourth to push the lead to 9-3.
UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox and her players were frustrated by the several of the calls and strike zone throughout the day.
"My struggle today was trying to find the zone of what he [the umpire] would call without them [SU] hitting it," UT Arlington starter Teri Lyles said.
SU kept the momentum up with four runs in the fifth. The game ended after five innings via the run rule.
"Facing teams three times in a row with two pitchers it's a really tough thing for any team to go through and when they're throwing a really tight zone it gives the team an opportunity to get better pitches," Fox said.
