RUSTON, Louisiana - UT Arlington fell 5-1 to Texas State in its third game in the 2013 Western Athletic Conference Tournament to end the season Friday evening.

Nina Villanueva and Meagan Michele each and two hits against the Bobcats, with the lone run coming from Villanueva.

"I think that we didn't play our game and when the game's on the line and the season's on the line you definitely want to make sure that you come out and perform, and I don't think we did," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "This feeling that we're having right now, I want the girls to remember when they're running the shuttle, when they have early morning workouts or doing extra hitting, all those things, they'll remember this feeling."

Texas State got things going early when the leadoff batter took home on a throwing error in the top of the first.

Villanueva scored from first when Michele doubled to left field with two outs to even things up in the bottom of the first.

The Mavericks had an opportunity to take the lead in the bottom of the third with two runners on, but they were unable to convert.

Macie Hair knocked a solo home run in the top of the fifth to give Texas State a 4-1 lead.

Teri Lyles' final pitch of her career at UTA resulted in a line drive right back to her. Lyles threw the ball to second for the third out of the inning with Texas State leading 5-1.

"I didn't really think of it like that," Lyles said about her final time on the field as a Maverick. "It feels good. That's my favorite part about it, the defensive aspect and that's what I lived for and I'm going to continue to live for."

With the loss the Mavericks wrapped up their 2013 campaign.
