ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington softball lost its final home game of the season against No. 16 Louisiana 8-0 Sunday afternoon at Allan Saxe Field.

The Mavericks dropped to 20-29 overall and 4-13 in Sun Belt play.

"That's the top of the Sun Belt and that is where we need to be," UT Arlington coach Kristie Fox said. "We really need to come out with more energy."

Senior pitcher Callie Collins started her 26th game of the season. She struck out three Cajun batters, while giving up eight runs. Junior Nina Villanueva went 2-3 with two putouts and one assist.

Louisiana's Lexie Elkins hit a two-run home run to put the Cajuns on the board in the top of the first inning. UL homered again in the third inning to go up 3-0.

The Cajuns got the board against in the fourth with two runs off of three hits to go up 5-0 before a throw down from Kacey Everett to second base ended the inning.

Collins walked a run in with the bases loaded in the sixth inning as Louisiana went up 6-0.

The Mavericks continue Sun Belt action at Texas State with a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at 12 p.m. to conclude the regular season.
